Increased West Nile Virus Risk in Placer County

The Placer Mosquito and Vector Control District’s mosquito and West Nile virus testing showed an increased risk of WNV transmission in the following areas of Placer County:

1. All rural areas in western Placer County
2. Western Lincoln west of Lincoln Blvd.
3. Western Roseville west of Fiddyment Rd.
4. Northern Rocklin especially along Pleasant Grove Creek
5. Newcastle

Residents in these areas are advised to stay inside during dusk and early evening hours and wear protective clothing and an EPA registered repellent if you have to be outside.

The District will be conducting mosquito control treatments in these areas to reduce the amount of WNV infected adult mosquitoes.
