Insect Identification

We offer identification of suspected public health pests, including ticks, bed bugs, and yellowjackets.

How to submit a sample for identification:

  1. If possible, obtain multiple specimens of the organism in question.
  2. Place sample into a sealed, transparent container, such as a Ziploc bag or mason jar.
  3. If you are unable to submit samples to our office within 24 hours of collection, you may storethem in your freezer.
  4. Submit samples in person to our office along with a completed Identification Request form, which you can download here: Insect Identification Form. Blank forms are also available at our office.
