Press Release 9/30/2009

Please find the following NEWS ALERT for IMMEDIATE RELEASE from the Placer Mosquito and Vector Control District.

DATE: September 29, 2009

ROSEVILLE- The Placer Mosquito and Vector Control District announced today that the adult mosquito fogging scheduled for Wednesday 9/30/09 has been cancelled due to cool temperatures and expected windy conditions. When temperatures cool and winds increase, there is less mosquito activity which diminishes the efficacy of the treatment and makes directing the spray cloud to the target areas difficult. says District Manager, Joel Buettner. “The District’s integrated pest management approach is to make control decisions based on the specific conditions found in the field. Since conditions have changed, we need to reassess the control decision, and adjust accordingly,”

There are no immediate plans to reschedule the adulticide treatment. The schedule for future larger-scale treatments will be announced as that information becomes available.

For residents who still are experiencing higher than normal mosquitoes on their properties, please submit a service request via the District website or by calling 1-888-768-2343.
