Mosquitoes of Placer County
Mosquitoes are responsible for considerable annoyance for the residents of the County, and for the transmission of several diseases of man and domestic animals. In Placer County the more important mosquito-borne diseases are encephalitis and malaria.


There are more than 30 different species of mosquitoes in the county, about a dozen species that are quite common, and the rest are less so or found in specific habitats.
