We have received a few inquiries at our office about Zika virus.
There is a very good article in the New York Times about the Zika virus in general:
The California Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have issued a travel advisory which can be found here: Zika virus Travel Advisory
In Placer County, we would need a few things to come together for Zika virus to be a health threat:
First, we would need the species of mosquito that is able to transmit Zika virus. Secondly, we would need a human case who is actively infectious with Zika virus to enter our community. The Zika virus mosquito vectors, have not yet been identified as present in Placer County, and we do not have any known infectious human cases currently. So risk for our residents is fairly low.
If any of our residents have any questions or concerns about Zika virus, please contact us via phone or email, and we would be happy to address them!
