Parts of western Placer are scheduled for treatment for high mosquito numbers and increased West Nile virus activity. An EPA-registered mosquito adulticide will be applied in an Ultra-low Volume (ULV) fog by aircraft in an effort to address increased mosquito populations and West Nile virus activity.
Treatment areas (Click on map for larger image):
- Area between Dowd Road and Nelson Lane, from Nicolaus Road south to Moore Road
- Critter Creek Area: from Nicolaus Road south to Moore and east of Brewer Road
- Wise Road Area: west of Dowd Road and south of Waltz Road.
Since several factors affect treatment activities, such as weather and wind conditions, the District encourages Placer residents to check this website regularly for any changes to the treatment schedule. For an overview of our mosquito control programs, you may view the District video.
Please note that an “offset treatment” may need to be conducted. This means that residents may see the plane flying outside of the designated treatment area in order to compensate for wind speed and direction and to ensure that our public health materials are reaching the intended area scheduled for the treatment.
